Benson Idahosa School of Basic and Applied Studies, BISBAS, University way, GRA, P.M.B. 1045, Benin City, Edo State, was selected by the National Board for Technical Education, NBTE, to host the “National Critique Curriculum Workshop for Proposed Higher National Diploma” (HNID) in two (2) ICT Programmes. This workshop exercise was slated to last for one week, with the opening and closing ceremonies holding on Monday, 9th and on Friday, 13th April, 2018 respectively. About twenty-five (25) participants and resource personnel were involved in this programme.
The National Board for Technical Education, NBTE, is a body of the Ministry of Education saddled with the responsibility of regulation, coordination and standardization of technical and vocational education; tertiary education falling outside the University. The Board by its Enabling Act 16 of 1985 (as amended) is charged with the responsibilities of developing National minimum guide curriculum and course specifications of programmes for institutions under its purview.
NBTE, with the interest of advancing Innovative Enterprise Institutions as well as in the view of developing Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), the Board is putting together this National Curriculum Development Workshop aimed at evaluating the draft curricula submitted by practitioners in the profession in order to develop a National Standard that will sustain meaningful skill training expected at the level of the proposed qualification.
NBTE has considered and approved the development of National Minimum Guide Curricula and Course Specifications at Higher National Innovation Diploma (HNID) levels for two (2) ICT Programmes; Computer Software Engineering and Computer Hardware Engineering Technology.
