Orientation Ceremony 2018/2019

Benson Idahosa School of Basic and Applied Studies holds her Orientation Ceremony for new students in the 2018/2019 academic session. Present at the Orientation were fresh students, Principal Officers, Heads of Departments, Directors and Heads of Units.

Addressing the students on behalf of Management the Rector of the institution, Dr. Mark Ighile officially welcomed students to the institution and urged them to make optimal use of their stay on campus to better their lives. He further explained that the essence of the orientation was to prepare students emotionally and psychologically for their chosen programme, to drive the spirit of excellence in them, as well as expose them to all the materials available for them within the institution for their optimal use amongst others.

Also speaking, the Registrar, Mr. Enoma Aruevbose reminded the fresh students to obey all rules and regulations of the institution, dress properly according to the official dress code of the institution as well as attend all lectures. In the same vein, the Deputy Rector, Dr. S.A. Enabulele informed the students that BISBAS is a Faith based institution that was founded on Faith in Christ by the founding father, Late Archbishop Benson Idahosa who had the vision and mission to propagate the Faith through Education, and therefore enjoined the students to take advantage of the privilege to being offered admission in the institution to better their spiritual life as it is expected of them to develop in character as well as in learning.

Delivering the strategic address titled “You are in a Great School”, a keynote address given by the Rector where he defined great institutions as institution made up of great lecturers and great students. He emphasized that BISBAS is handled by team of great and highly qualified and innovative lecturers with wealth of practical experience which is the mainstay of innovative enterprise institution like BISBAS. He told the students that innovative and enterprise centres were created by the Federal Government of Nigeria, owing to the lapse observed in the Nation’s educational system which is practical deficient.

He expressed confidence that the Management of BISBAS is determined to make her students find fulfillment with strong ICT structure, Entrepreneurship Programme and short Vocational Programme available to ensure her students get the best study experience during their stay at the institution.

Finally, he urged the students to continue to be worthy ambassadors of the Institution, while wishing them a successful stay at BISBAS!
