Benson Idahosa School of Basic and Applied Studies (BISBAS) holds First Convocation

BISBAS held its first convocation and lecture series on Friday the 24th November, 2017 amidst pomp and pageantry with dignitaries rarely witnessed by the BISBAS community honouring the occasion with their presence. Among those present are the Proprietor of the institution Bishop FEB Idahosa; the Monarch of Benin Kingdom ably represented by the Iyase Chief Sam Igbe, the Executive Governor of Edo state ably represented by the commission of Education; representatives from Church of God Mission International Global Headquarters; Principal officers, Deans, Heads of Departments and Faculty Officers of Benson Idahosa University; and Rectors of various Innovative Enterprise Institutions in Benin metropolis.

The lecture of the day was delivered by Professor Jude Agho the Vice Chancellor of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma here in Edo State. the theme of the lecture centred around the “the role of information and technology in communication”. He stressed on the need of the states to tap into the available potential in social and mass media for the generation of skills, employment, internally generated revenue and industrialization of Nigeria.

The climax of the day was the presentation of Diplomas to forty deserving graduating students across the various departments of film and TV production, media and performing arts, software engineering, hardware engineering, networking and systems engineering, banking operations and paralegal studies for the 2014/2015 and 2015/2016 academic sessions. The valedictory speech was delivered by the best graduating student of the two academic sessions Miss NWEGBU Iyesogie, who thanked the school’s management led by the Rector Dr. Mark Ighile for creating the right environment for the students to excel. The valedictorian enjoined other students to utilize the opportunity they have now, and become the best they can be.
